Ala Mahaina Condo Hotel & Okinawa Hanasaki Marche

The newly constructed hotel and commercial buildings created various viewpoints. We decided to use these new viewpoints to show a clear comparison between the daytime view and the night time view. For the lighting of the exterior parts of the hotel, we mainly lit up flowers and plants in order to evoke a tropical atmosphere. We also installed low level lights to ensure enough illumination for visitors’ night time strolls. For the lighting of the approach to the hotel, water and palm trees were lit up in order to create a symbolic scene which enhances visitors’ expectations for the extraordinary spaces beyond. In the lobby and the restaurant, we tried to use as few down lights as possible, instead installing indirect lights in order to create a soft and relaxing atmosphere. To illuminate the rooftop pool, from which visitors can see ocean directly, we placed most of the fixtures under the water. This ensures that visitors can enjoy the delightful views from the pool without any visual disturbance.
